The task given to us was to design, test and construct in groups a compression structure made from Card. Different variations would need to be made based on criteria that we set. These would be grown on Rhino 6 using Grasshopper so that each structure has complex curves and has no tensile forces within it. The more interesting structures were then tested using Grasshopper again to find out the load paths within it so that precise edits could be made to reduce weight or add strength at specific points. The 3D models were then split and flattened to create templates that could then be laser cut for assembly. Because of Time restraints, Only half of the scaled pavilion could be assembled but even with just half, it can be seen that even with a typically weak material, a structure can be formed.
